After an Arrest in East Los Angeles

East Los Angeles is an unincorporated community, so there's no city police force. The Sheriff's East Los Angeles Station, 5019 E. Third St., patrols it along with Commerce, Cudahy and Maywood.

People arrested in East LA are usually processed at the station first. Men who stay in custody are generally moved to the Inmate Reception Center downtown and women to Century Regional in Lynwood. We'll confirm where bail can be posted.

East LA cases are usually heard at the East Los Angeles Courthouse, 4848 E. Civic Center Way. The paperwork lists the courtroom and date, and we're glad to double-check it.

Our nearest office is in Santa Ana. You won't need to drive there: a licensed agent can handle the bond with you by phone and electronic signature.

What Happens After an East Los Angeles Arrest

A short guide to the agencies, jail and court involved in an East Los Angeles arrest.

Step 1 · Arrest

East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station

5019 E Third St, East Los Angeles, CA 90022

East Los Angeles is an unincorporated community, so Sheriff's deputies from this station handle arrests. A person may be held at the station before release or transfer.

Step 2 · Transfer

Inmate Reception Center

450 Bauchet St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

If they aren't released locally, men usually go to the county's Inmate Reception Center downtown and women to Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.

Step 3 · Court

East Los Angeles Courthouse

4848 E Civic Center Way, Los Angeles, CA 90022

This nearby courthouse hears criminal cases, but East Los Angeles matters may be assigned elsewhere. The paperwork names the court, and we'll confirm it with you.

How do I check the court date for an East Los Angeles case?

Enter the case number in the LA Superior Court's online case lookup to see upcoming hearings. If you only have a name, the court's defendant-name search finds the case number for a fee. The citation or release paperwork also lists the date.

Which station handles arrests in East Los Angeles?

The East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station at 5019 E Third St. It also covers Commerce, Cudahy, Maywood and unincorporated East Los Angeles. Its main line is (323) 264-4151.

How long does release take after an East LA arrest?

Release from the station is often faster than release after a transfer to a county jail. Either way, we post the bond as soon as we can and update you until they're home.

Is bail still required in Los Angeles County?

Since Oct 1, 2023, LA Superior Court's pre-arraignment release rules mean most misdemeanors and non-violent, non-serious felonies are cited or booked and released without money bail before arraignment. Serious and violent felonies are still bailable under the county bail schedule. Call us and we'll tell you whether bail applies.

How much does a bail bond cost in East Los Angeles?

Premiums are typically 10% of the bail amount, based on rates filed with the California Department of Insurance. We explain the full cost up front, and flexible payment plans are available.

Do I have to come to the office?

No. You can sign everything from your phone, any hour. If you'd prefer to meet in person, our nearest office is in Santa Ana at 200 N Broadway, Ste 100-A.
