After an Arrest in Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach has its own police department, at 420 15th St.

The department runs a short-term Type I jail with jailers on duty around the clock, mainly for people waiting to be arraigned. Under a 2025 agreement, some Manhattan Beach arrestees can also be housed at the Hawthorne City Jail. Anyone held longer may be moved to a Sheriff's jail.

Manhattan Beach cases are heard at the Torrance Courthouse, 825 Maple Ave., which serves most of the South Bay beach cities. The paperwork lists the courtroom and date.

Our nearest office is in Santa Ana. Start with a call: a licensed agent can handle the application, signatures and payment remotely.

Common Questions

Where are people arrested in Manhattan Beach taken?

Manhattan Beach police usually hold adults at their jail, 420 15th St. Some arrestees are housed at the Hawthorne City Jail, and anyone held longer may go to a county jail. We'll confirm the location.

How do I check the court date for a Manhattan Beach case?

Enter the case number in the LA Superior Court's online case lookup to see upcoming hearings. If you only have a name, the court's defendant-name search finds the case number for a fee. The citation or release paperwork also lists the date.

How do I find someone arrested in Manhattan Beach?

While they're held by Manhattan Beach PD, call the department or call us and we'll check. Once someone moves to county custody, the Sheriff's inmate locator shows where they are.

How long does release from the Manhattan Beach jail take?

It depends on the booking and where the person is being housed. Once you sign, we post the bond right away and stay in touch until they're out.

Is bail still required in Los Angeles County?

Since Oct 1, 2023, LA Superior Court's pre-arraignment release rules mean most misdemeanors and non-violent, non-serious felonies are cited or booked and released without money bail before arraignment. Serious and violent felonies are still bailable under the county bail schedule. Call us and we'll tell you whether bail applies.

How much does a bail bond cost in Manhattan Beach?

Premiums are typically 10% of the bail amount, based on rates filed with the California Department of Insurance. We explain the full cost up front, and flexible payment plans are available.

Do I have to come to the office?

No. You can sign everything from your phone, any hour. If you'd prefer to meet in person, our nearest office is in Santa Ana at 200 N Broadway, Ste 100-A.
